Laid Off in America is operated by Hacestek International LLC. References to "we," "us," and "our" mean Hacestek International LLC operating the Laid Off in America product.
Laid Off in America is intended for users in the United States.
Privacy-first design
Laid Off in America is designed to collect as little information as possible.
- We collect your email only when you request the free checklist or submit a form.
- We may collect your state, biggest concern, work-authorization dependency answer, survey answers, and referral/UTM source if you provide them.
- We do not ask for Social Security numbers, passport numbers, I-94 numbers, bank account details, birth dates, home addresses, or employer passwords.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use lead form submissions, survey answers, Self-Check selections, or chat messages to train our own AI models.
Chat assistant (Concierge)
Chat messages are processed through Lovable AI to generate responses. We do not intentionally store chat transcripts on our own servers.
Please do not submit Social Security numbers, passport or I-94 numbers, bank account numbers, home addresses, case numbers, or other sensitive identifiers in chat. The assistant does not need them, and the chat is not the right place to share them.
The Concierge is for general educational guidance only. It does not provide legal, financial, tax, medical, or immigration advice.
Layoff Document Self-Check
The Layoff Document Self-Check does not include document upload or pasted document text. It works from the selections you make in your browser.
We do not need names, Social Security numbers, passport numbers, I-94 numbers, addresses, bank details, or account numbers for the Self-Check.
Information stored in your browser
To help you resume where you left off, we save your intake answers and Self-Check selections in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us unless you submit a form. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to understand aggregate site usage and improve the product. Plausible does not use cookies and does not track visitors across sites. We do not send emails, payment transaction IDs, work-authorization answers, document selections, or form contents to analytics.
Advertising & Meta Pixel
We run advertising on Facebook and Instagram. To measure those ads, our site can load the Meta Pixel, a tracking script provided by Meta Platforms, Inc.
- The Meta Pixel does not load until you click “Accept” on the cookie banner. If you decline, or if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, the Pixel is never loaded and no Pixel cookies are set.
- When loaded, the Pixel sets two cookies on your device:
_fbp(first-party, identifies your browser to Meta) and, if you arrive via a Facebook or Instagram ad,_fbc(stores the ad click ID). - The Pixel sends Meta the page URL you visited, basic browser and device info, and the events we configure (page views, lead form submissions, and purchases — product name and price only).
- We do not send Meta the contents of your lead form, survey answers, Self-Check selections, Concierge chat messages, or any document text.
- For visitors we identify as being in California, we instruct Meta to process the data under its Limited Data Use (LDU) flag, which restricts how Meta may use it.
- Data already sent to Meta before you decline is governed by Meta's own privacy policy: facebook.com/privacy/policy.
Your privacy choices
- Cookie banner. You can decline ads-measurement cookies on the banner shown on your first visit. Your choice is remembered on your device.
- Reopen the banner. Click “Your Privacy Choices” in the site footer to change your choice at any time.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a decline automatically and do not show the banner. We honor this in all U.S. states whose laws recognize GPC, including California and New Jersey.
- Email request. You can also email help@hacestek.com to confirm your preference or request deletion of any lead or survey records we hold.
Service providers we use
We use a small number of service providers to operate the site:
- Lovable Cloud for hosting, database, and application infrastructure.
- Cloudflare for edge hosting and request routing.
- Paddle as our Merchant of Record for payments, billing, refunds, and tax compliance.
- Plausible Analytics for aggregate, cookie-free site analytics.
- Meta Platforms, Inc. for advertising measurement when you accept the Meta Pixel.
When you buy a product, Paddle sends us your email address, the product purchased, the transaction ID, and payment status so we can grant access and provide support. We do not store card numbers, billing addresses, or any other payment details — those stay with Paddle.
Data retention
We retain lead and survey records for up to 24 months by default unless you request deletion earlier. You can request deletion by emailing help@hacestek.com.
Security
We use standard application security practices appropriate for an early-stage validation product, including server-side validation, limited data collection, and restricted database access. No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
Security incidents
If we learn of a data security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
